Winter as a child(Bottom Left) with rest of her family
Winter is the first born daughter and oldest child of Jacques Schnee and Willow Schnee and oldest sister to Weiss Schnee and Whitley Schnee. As the eldest child she was the first heir to the Schnee Dust Company.
Around the age of 17 she enrolled at Atlas Academy. After graduating she joined the Kingdom of Atlas's military's special operative unit. However upon this choice her father relinquished her claim to the company.
At some point in the past she visited Beacon Academy, mostly likely during a past Vytal Festival.
Prior to her sister Weiss enrolment to Beacon Academy in the Kingdom of Vale. She helped train her sister by summoning Beowolves to fight her.
Not long after Weiss enrolment she was sent to Vale during the Vytal Festival on mission to oversee additional security measures during the tournament.
Winter lands in front of Beacon Academy and disembarks, flanked by several Atlesian Knight-200 androids. Despite Weiss' ecstatic greeting, Winter's initial response is very cold, refusing to tell her sister either the reason for her presence or its duration. She then goes on to criticize Weiss' "novice" performance in the Vytal Festival tournament, refusing to even classify it as a victory. However, after this cold initial exchange, Winter becomes warmer towards Weiss, expressing interest and concern for her well-being, as well as her social life. Weiss accordingly introduces Winter to Ruby, whom she finds "underwhelming" but nonetheless thanks for "taking an interest" in Weiss.

As a graduate Huntress from Atlas Academy, a specialist and lieutenant in the Kingdom of Atlas's military, Winter is a skilled warrior. Second only to General James Ironwood in rank. Her skills are great that he places utmost trust in her. Her skills alone has led him to choose her as the candidate for the Winter Maiden's power upon Fria's death. As Lieutenant position and rank in the Atlas Military, her influence is second only to Ironwood.
Winter is skilled swordswoman able to hold her own against other elite more experienced Huntsmen like Qrow Branwen.
