Shandias an example of Skypieans
Biology[]
Are a race of humanoids that inhabit most of the sky islands in the Pirate World. They mostly have the same biology to humans with a couple of key differences like having wings on their backs.
The split into three tribes of people, Skypieans, Shandias and Birkans.
The Skypieans who have a more lighter skin tone and hair shapped like the antenna of an insect. Their wings face upwards but are smaller than Shandias.
The Shandias have a dark skin tone and most of them have tattoos on their bodies. Their wings are similar to those of the Skypieans in shape and upward direction, however, they tend to have several more feathers, which are longer and have a more defined shape than the Skypieans
The Birkans are the most diverse looking of the tribes like other two they wings or their backs but their faces downwards and some members also have goat like appearances while other look more human like.
Culture[]
The tribes are known have diverse culture between each other.
The Skypieans are to be quite peaceful and the most non aggressive of the three tribes. Skypieans follow the Leadership of their ruling governor whom is given the title God. They rarely question the leader of his rules; To the Skypieans, the ground from the Blue Seas below (which they refer to as 'Vearth') is sacred as plants do not grow without it in Skypiea.
The Shandias believed largely in ancestor worship. A large part of their religion centers around a golden bell in the city of Shandora. By ringing it, the spirits of their ancestors can follow its sound back to their island and live in a species of white trees that lives there. The also worshiped a number of gods which were a race of giant snakes that inhabited Jaya. They also practiced human sacrifice. However they stopped their more traditional beliefs, such as sacrifice, and belief in gods, after Mont Blanc Noland cured their village of disease. Though still worship their ancestors. Similar to Skypieans they value Vearth.
The Birkans were to said strong warriors. Unlike Skypieans and Shandia, the people of Birka tend to dress in long white robes, gowns, and other quasi-religious vestments. The appear to have warrior based culture.
